Fáilte Ireland’s Docklands Experts Programme
February 21, 2019Pollinating, Painting & Pontificating
May 27, 2019This year’s Volunteer Day is on Friday 10th May. Last year we had almost two hundred volunteers
from local businesses taking part. The Docklands Volunteer Day is a great opportunity for local
businesses to make a real, tangible and positive contribution to our area.

Biodiversity, urban art to reduce graffiti and community are the big themes for 2019. We will be
painting a mural on the large derelict wall on Grand Canal Quay. Our teams will be planting
pollinators at Grand Canal Square, Chimney Park and the IFSC. Our local employee volunteers will be
going afloat on a historic Canal Barge with the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland to clear
flotsam out of the Grand Canal Basin. Clearing a children’s playground at the Enable School in
Sandymount and planting pollinators in the Bath Avenue Residents Association Community Garden.
Another new initiative this year is What the Tech? Local employees will give workshops for local
people on getting the best from their tech; mobile phone, digital camera or laptop. It’s a great
opportunity for Ireland premier tech hub to pontificate on the joys of tech.
If you or someone in your organisation is prepared to volunteer or if your company is prepared to
support do please let me know.
All volunteers will receive an exclusive red volunteer t-shirt to wear on the day!
