February 5, 2026Building Ireland’s First Carbon-Neutral Urban Zone—Together
The Dublin Docklands Sustainability Action Programme (DDSAP) is a collaborative initiative led by the Docklands Business Forum, bringing together businesses, public bodies, and local communities to accelerate practical climate action across Dublin Docklands.
Docklands is uniquely positioned to lead. With world-class public transport links (including Luas and DART), modern high-performance buildings, and a strong network of employers and SMEs, we have the scale and opportunity to become Ireland’s first carbon-neutral urban zone—while improving quality of life for everyone who works, lives, and visits here.
What DDSAP Will Deliver
DDSAP focuses on practical, achievable actions that reduce emissions and support long-term sustainability, including:
· Sustainable Travel: Increasing public transport use, cycling and walking through partnerships and local Travel Champions.
· Food & Waste Reduction: Supporting hospitality and businesses to cut food waste, improve recycling, and adopt circular solutions.
· Shopping & Recycling: Working with retailers and cultural venues to reduce packaging and boost recycling participation.
· Education & Outreach: Making it easy for SMEs and micro-businesses to get involved through low-cost, time-efficient supports and toolkits.
· Energy Master Planning: An SEAI-supported Docklands Energy Audit is underway, forming the foundation of a district-wide Energy Master Plan.
