Fourth Annual Docklands Business Awards

The 4th annual Docklands Business Awards took place in the Gibson hotel on Thursday the 27th of November.

The Awards aim to recognise the achievements of businesses operating in Dublin’s Docklands and encourage the ongoing development of the area to drive further innovation and development in what has become known as Dublin’s Silicon Docks and highlights the contribution business makes to the local community, Dublin and the national economy.

Awards were presented across a range of categories including Innovation; Professional Services; Business of the Year and Corporate Social Responsibility. Nominees at this year’s awards include well recognised brands and organisations as well as smaller entrepreneurial companies. The winners are;

Guest of Honour, Broadcaster and Entrepreneur, Bobby Kerr said “The regenerated Docklands is a key business hub for not just Dublin but the country. The Docklands Business Awards emphasise the remarkable diversity of the enterprises, large and small, that are the dynamo to the creation of over 40,000 jobs right in the heart of our capital city.”

Developing Docklands into World Class Maritime Tourism Destination to Deliver 1,200 jobs and €36 million investment

Alan Robinson, CEO of the Docklands Business Forum, said: “The awards are a key platform to highlight the activity and innovation taking place in the Docklands area but also an important forum to underline the potential the area still holds to drive economic development and growth, whilst at the same time improving the local area and making Dublin an event more dynamic and exciting city to live in and visit.”

“This year we’re for example highlighting that by better utilising the area on the east bank of the River Liffey and around the Grand Canal Basin, and developing it into a world class luxury yachting destination we could bring about €36million into the local economy create over 1200 new jobs.

With the European Commission identifying maritime tourism as a key growth area and reports indicating that multi occupant yachts spend on average €1000 a night, we believe there is an unprecedented opportunity for Dublin’s Communications and Financial Hub to also become a major international tourist destination.”
