A Record Over 200 Roll up Sleeves for 2016 Docklands Volunteer Day

Each year the Docklands Business Forum organise the Docklands Volunteer Day. This annual event increases in popularity each year. The 6th Docklands Volunteer Day was held on Friday 22nd April. Over 200 volunteers participated during the day from a wide variety of companies north and south of the Liffey including; A&L Goodbody, Accenture, the Central Bank, CCD, Bank of Ireland GCS, Bank of Ireland IFSC, Owen Reilly, Gibson Hotel, Dublin City FM, Mail Boxes Etc & Inland Waterways Association of Ireland.

Many local companies sponsored the event by kindly giving in-kind support; Lolly & Cook helped kick off the day by giving our volunteers free coffee and tea, Bank of Ireland on Grand Canal Square gave an 11 o’clock break with tea and snack, the Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane have all our participants lunch in their 200 seater restaurant. Dublin City Council, Waterways Ireland and Bilfinger Real Estate all provided practical assistance in getting the jobs done.

 

During the day our teams planted the empty tree pits on North Wall Quay, created Pop Up Gardens on Mayor Square on the north side & Admiral Brown Walk on the south, Sensory Wall at Chimney Park, Clearing Flotsam from Grand Canal Basin & Royal Canal at Linear Park, Rubbish Pick along Grand Canal to Baggot Street & Linear park, Weeding on City Quay, Graffiti Removal on Sean O’Casey & McMahon Bridges and Painting & Varnishing Hand Rail at McMahon Bridge.
